PUBLIC SPEAKING FOR ESL

MY ENGLISH ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR PUBLIC SPEAKING

What would it feel like to stop carrying around the burden and belief that your English isn't good enough?

Many Yes You Can Speak participants share that they felt embarrassed or not good enough by the way they speak English:

  • I don’t say things right.

  • I wish I’d learned English at a better school.

  • My accent can’t be understood.

  • If I make grammar mistakes, people will think I’m stupid.

  • I can’t always find the right words. My vocabulary is too limited.

  • My diction is so bad—I worry people won’t respect me.

  • I find myself staying silent instead of speaking up. I feel invisible.

Often we believe that because our English isn’t good enough that we aren’t good enough.

The truth is, most ESL speakers get stuck because of the fear of mispronunciation, poor grammar, accent or lack of vocabulary, but believe it or not, a large percentage of our communication is based on how we say something, not the actual words we use. Nonverbal communication is just as important because it propels your ideas into the hearts and minds of those you are speaking to. Besides, people won’t remember exactly what you say but they will always remember how you made them feel.

So with that said, a 12th-grade command of the English language is all you really need to communicate well. Because you’re good at what you do, chances are your content is just fine.

It’s the feeling behind the words that matters most. Honestly, your audience wants to hear what you have to say. They want to learn something, and feel motivated or inspired. And trust me, once you understand this and get out of your head and speak from your heart you’ll feel more connected with them and make a lasting impact. We know you can absolutely do this!

What If You Could Let Go Of The Fear
That Your Accent Will Be Judged
And You Will Be Rejected?
"Believe it or not,

over 1,000 ESL speakers who graduated from our program initially told us they thought they needed to reduce their accent, or have a better vocabulary to be a good public speaker. But only a few of them actually did!”

Worrying about your English speaking skills actually creates barriers when you speak

Believing your speaking isn’t good enough, will stop the flow of your genius, and make speaking up ten times harder.

That’s because when you’re nervous... your guard goes up and your voice gets softer/quieter - shrinking both your posture and your confidence. If you're super nervous, your hesitation can completely shut you down.

When you shut down, your audience can't connect with you which means no matter how good your words sound they just won’t land. They want to feel the real you, your enthusiasm, and your heartfelt desire to share your message, instead of someone who recites the perfect script.

BUT LYNN, HOW CAN I BE SURE THIS WILL WORK?

HOW TO GET STARTED

The good news is, you don’t have to take an extra class specific to ESL. Woot! Typically half the students in our Inspired Speaker Program are non-native English speakers from a wide variety of industries and countries.

To see if this is right for you we invite you to book a free 45-minute Speaker Breakthrough call. On the call we’ll show you how easy it will be to feel confident and to finally speak without worrying that your English isn’t good enough.

The Inspired Speaker Program works for everyone. There’s no special curriculum needed for ESL speakers to become successful public speakers.

We look forward to connecting with you!

HERE'S WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
Vinod Kirshnan Koverkathu | Past ESL Graduate

"Because English is a second language for me, I really didn’t know what to expect or believe that the Inspired Speaker Program would work for me, but during the program, I have become increasingly more comfortable in front of a group. I surprisingly broke some deeply ingrained patterns that weren’t serving me which feels very good. I now show up in video meetings with confidence and feel connected to myself and my audience so that I get my point across. I trust my voice. A bonus is that those who are drawn to this work are really kind people. Through the process we got to know each other quite well, to the point where we feel like family and will continue supporting each other. It’s astonishing to see that everyone in the training can now hold their own when they are put on the spot. This work goes way beyond public speaking and I’m very happy that I took this leap of faith."
